Well, we are about 2 months away so get those Halloween costumes ready! DABU first formed in the fall of 1995. This Halloween marks the 10th Anniversary of it's conception. So this year's halloween party is going to be something special. We're definitely doing it up and hope that we can turn it into a 10 year reunion of sorts. The plan is to host it at DABU Castle as we have for the past couple of years. We are currently working on a 10th Anniversary Halloween CD and/or DVD Edition.
Post your comments on when you would like the Halloween Party held - Oct. 28th (Friday), Oct 29th (Saturday), or another day? Also, be sure to post your comments on what songs you would like included on the CD here. We're also looking for art work for the new CD covers, if you have any suggestions or want to come up with one yourself - send suggestions, pictures, etc... to chris@dabu.com or mdreyes23@hotmail.com
UPDATE:
That is correct sir - DABU Halloween will be held at DABU Castle on Saturday, October 29th unless I hear negrotion reports or unavoidable conflicts for our international guests. We'll hold off on sending the proper evite for a couple more weeks so post comments or send emails to chris@dabu.com if you feel strongly about it otherwise.
thanks

Ricky and Ollie had their wedding this past weekend. I had such a good time hanging out with friends and making new ones. Enjoy the pictures. I still have a bunch more to upload but wont get a chance to do so until tomorrow. -Mike
I came back to visit DC for the weekend (for a wedding) and some of us hung out in Georgetown for the evening. Chris picked me up at the airport, then we met up with Darren at his place... then met Jhason and Virginie at a French Bistro in Georgetown. Andy and Shelly met up with us shortly afterwards. -Mike
Rich Koza hosts a trip to Ocean City, MD about once a year around the 3rd weekend in August. Thanks go out to him and his grandparents for allowing us to stay at there place for the weekend. This year the attendees were Rich, Jhason, Virginie, Kevin, Julie, Chris, Darren, and Mike. More pictures of the trip can also be seen on Jhason's website and Rich's website.
Decided to create an additional site for all the DABU videos we've been putting together so that they're easier to find and not spread out through different blog entries. You can check out the videos at http://videos.dabu.com
Newest additions to the video collection includes clips from the latest episode of Minding the Store (with Ari Shaffir) and Mike's old personal dunking video.
DABU Resort is being worked on constantly in preparation for visitors and future parties. Outdoor speakers online, new nite lite in place. Check it out here. Reserve your accomdations now!
I found a couple of sites that offer free online file storage space. If you're interested in watching Ari's (aka - The Amazing Racist) first appearance on "Minding the Store", you can download the video at http://www.savefile.com/files/6932089. Unfortunately, the video will automatically be deleted if there are no downloads within 14 consecutive days. If that happens, I'll repost. Also, if anybody is interested... here's a list of free online file hosting sites I've discovered:
Apparently this website has been getting a lot of hits lately for people searching for The Amazing Racist. Pretty funny. I also used to have a video posted up from the same guy (our friend Ari Shaffir) on Pauly Shore's "Minding the Store". I used to store the video in my comcast account but forgot that I had to cancel that account when I moved to Florida. So that link is currently broken. Hopefully soon I can find some alternate storage area so I can re-post that link as well as future videos. Anybody have suggestions for some cheap online storage space?
Andreas came into the DC area and looks like he had a blast with the DABU crew. Rich posted up some very nice pictures on his website. I'm very jealous... wish I was there to party with you all! Sorry I missed ya Andreas, too bad you didn't vacation like a week earlier. -Mike
Our friend Jesse Cooper was on an episode of the 5th Wheel on July 28, 2004. A couple of us got together at Mike's apartment for game night and then gathered around to watch the show. We had the video footage but accidentally lost it (sorry Jesse). So here's actual screen captures of the show on the tube. Gratz to Jesse on some awesome stuff. You can find out more on Jesse at his website http://www.jessereedcooper.com
So what does D.A.B.U. actually stand for? Well, there's actually been so many iterations to the acronym. The real meaning behind the name though is a group of friends that enjoy hanging out and having fun. We're a very tight nit group but love to meet new people and try new things. I will tell you that the letter D stands for "Drunken". Now before you go making assumptions... just know that we were major fans of Drunken Master II. If you're a Jackie Chan fan, Drunken Master II is without a doubt the best of his work. Watching that movie in college led to a lot of funny "drunken" moments and at one point we started to catalog all those events. We started an e-mail that we passed around the group and created "The Drunken List". To visitors the drunken list might look a bit strange, but to most of us it'll bring back tons of memories. Enjoy DABU... and by all means, if you have more drunken memories... post comments!
Back in the day, DABU was also a quake clan before expanding to non-quake players and friends we made through the years. We even had a website up that Chris had put together. Unfortunately we lost most of the original data from that website. The picture above was a portion of that website which was also used in creating the first Halloween Party CD cover. Back then we had our silly quake/dabu names (and tag lines). Starting from the top left corner and going clockwise, we have:
Not pictured, we also had the following quake clan members...
Serfs and StableHands:
Grasshoppers and Crickets:
Ran across Tom's Graduation scrap book. When Tom graduated from college and was heading to Europe, DABU put together a little scrap book for him. Scanned the photos and they are now online, enjoy.
We had a pre-going away party for Mike and a couple of us hung out at DABU Castle for the evening. We got a bit crazy and decided to shoot some Motorcycle Modeling pictures for some unknown reason. You can also view more of them towards the end of Rich's Motorcycles album
